This is the Junior big game hunting / Trapper mentor bill and is effective immediately. Thank you to everyone who sent letters and made calls. Click the link for all the details Youth Hunting Bill News Release This will give kids ages 14 & 15 years of age to hunt big game, we were hoping to have the age requirement lowered to 12 years of age however this is a step in the right direction. Also Bass Pro is providing monthly courses check out their website for dates and times Jefferson County Hunter Education Course will be held on Tuesday August 26 and Thursday August28 from 6:30 - 9:30 PM and Saturday August 30 from 9:am - 2:00pm at the Mannsville Fire Hall US Route 11 Mannsville NY Mark Wiggins is the instructor, you must pre-register by calling 785-2533. To find other courses call 785-2533 If you have a disability and the above course is unable to accommodate your needs contact the region 6 coordinator in Watertown at 785-2261. All courses are free and all new hunters/bowhunters/trappers must receive these training before receiving their first license, Students must attend all sessions,demonstrate proper attitude and safety and past the test.
