*Drum Roll Please*

2010 Turkey Event Essay Winner, Josh Jesmer

Got up at 4AM going for a huge tom today, got to Drum around 4:15 and my dad hit the owl locater call and he answered. He was fired up. After an hour of callin he was long gone. So we rode to area, 10B, where we saw a gobbler strutting from the rode. My dad hit the call. He gobbled. We got all set up. We called and called and he moved further, further away. So we moved up and set up again. He came a little bit closer. But we couldn’t see him. So I asked my dad if we can move up some more. I was lying down and I called. He was strutting right to me. He got off the strut, I took the safety off my Remington 870 express magnum. He took one more step, the bang, he was died. I was so exited I was shaking so bad I couldn’t fill out the tag for a while.
He’s not the biggest bird ever but it was a great ending to a great hunt.
