Fellow Sportsmen,

Folks the Anti's are all ready sending our governor letters,phone calls and e-mail against this bill so we ask you to please help encourage him to sign this bill by sending him your response

We need to let the Governor know that we want the Junior Hunting and Trapper Mentoring bill signed into law.

For the first time in history, the Junior Hunting and Trapper Mentoring Bill has passed the Assembly and the Senate by an overwhelming majority. This bill now sits on the Governor’s desk.

I got a call from Senator Valesky. He is concerned because of reports out of Albany that Governor Patterson has received a large number of letters, calls and emails asking him not to sign this bill. As usual, sportsmen are remaining quiet.

The governor he will be receiving this bill in late July early August The problem that comes into play now that the State Legislature is not in session is that he can decide to do nothing and “pocket veto” the bill causing it to die. Since the legislature is not in session, they cannot override his decision by a 2/3 majority vote.

I urge you to send the governor a note and ask him to sign the Junior Hunting and Trapper Mentoring into law.

Tell him that this bill “Junior Hunting and Trapper Mentoring (S8228/ A11033)” will give young adults from all over the state, the opportunity to go field with a parent, mentor or loved one to learn about hunting, trapping and the great outdoors. This bill passed the Senate by an overwhelming vote of 61 in favor and only 1 against, and it passed in the Assembly by a vote of 92 to 14. This legislation will serve to nurture future generations of conservationists and stewards of our natural resources.
